I've heard so much about the "Grey Gardens" documentary that it is surprising I haven't seen it till last night. There's nothing exceptionally fabulous about the indie cult film apart from the character quirks. I spent most of the time wishing they had subtitled it. The language these grand dames spoke were hard to grasp at times, especially when they were talking (yelling) over each other. The most intriguing part of the film is of course what Little Edie wore for the cameras. I have read many über fashion designers have taken inspiration from this film, they also immortalized them in song, and now there's even a 2008 version remake. Looks like a ton of people found inspiration in the Beale ladies. I must have been channeling a bit of Little Edie when I took home these gorgeous brooches on sale today.
