01 MAR 2006. WEDNESDAY. 08:43PM.
Yay! The arrival of march means nothing to alot of people but to me, it means i can go out and buy new shoes now! It's an old rule that Mom enforced on us since i can remember that during the chinese new year festivities, no new shoes for a month after that ... or else you will be sighing for the rest of the year. I'm not one for old wives' superstitions (okay i am. To some extent. No open umbrella's in the house, no watches as gifts, knock on wood 3 times ... you get the picture) and i have broken that rule a fair but this year i decided i need all the 'good fortune' i can get for the Year of the Dog so i bowed and obeyed. Hence the excitement for tomorrow's late night shopping trip. In the last 2 weeks, i threw away 2 fave pairs of old ballet flatties and the last surviving one is just about to give way. Without them, i would be going to work in any of my other 5 pairs of shoes that hurt too much (don't judge me 'cos i am wiser now!). Let me leave with you a new recipe i was told today while shopping at the local asian herbalist ... the wise lady said, take a fresh tomato, carve out the top and stuff in 2 salty seeds (the ones that make you squirm) and leave it in the fridge overnight. Eat it the next day, it's delicious. Okay, could someone try this and let me know if its really something i should try?
