Ah, so the secret was finally revealed. Thanks to my big blunder (and others' following suit as well in the weeks leading up), the birthday gal rocked up to her surprise birthday afternoon tea at Leaf not quite surprised, but playing an Oscar-deserving role fiending shock to see everyone there. In the end, the joke was on the Party-Planner who till the very last minute did not know that the secret was out weeks before. It was funny how everything became complicated ... hush whispers about the party, talking in code names to keep up the pretences, a suggestion to park my car far away in case it gets spotted, yelling out "surprise!" when she arrived. Nevertheless, it was a wonderful time spent sipping teas and tasting sweet cupcakes and turkish delights with good friends on a sunday afternoon. I even got to crack open a fortune cookie which very convincingly foretold me of expected upcoming travels (i can see how they really tell the truth ... since i already bought my tickets for the next 2 holidays to come). Ooooh, looks like there's a black tie event with my name on it soon. Free gourmet dinner, free booze, free eye candy ... good enough reason to get frocked up for. Even if they call it Boobalicious.
