BACK TO THE START

26 NOVEMBER 2006. SUNDAY. 08:42PM.

As long as i can remember, i am not a huge fan of festivals, especially those involving portaloos and the lack of clean towelettes. I LURVE outdoor music gigs, did i ever tell you my experience involving an ex-boy, fairy lights, Bjork and Belvoir? That was a great night. Anyway, back to the this weekend. Yesterday i faced my portaloo fear and headed to Kings Park for Escape To The Park with some friends. I rationed my liquid intake making sure if i needed to go, it wouldn't be too often. I even mentally debated if i could last 6 hours without once going. Alas, when the alcohol was cracked open, that plan went downhill. However, i was pleasantly surprised at the conditions of the toilets. Not once (in the 3 times, there goes my theory) did i find spew or grossness in there. I even visited at the very last set of the very last band on the bill and lo and behold, it was still squeeky clean. Even if there were plenty of drunken silliness around us, even if there were plenty of empty wine bottles within my reach. The festival was totally enjoyable, sitting next to a hugh plasma which then became the "fun drunken dancing spot", 6 hours on the green and not one mossie bite, a few hilarious tumbles from the merry makers, a couple of swimmers across the lake while Augie March played, one drunken lady flashing us as she was fished out of the water by security. I am so glad i can remember all that waking up this morning. FESTIVAL PHOTOS HERE.
