My first outdoor summer movie for the year happened last weekend. It's too bad that the outdoor movie season is always short, by the time it is cool enough to venture outdoors, the season would have ended. Anyway, at my suggestion which was conceived right after watching Marie Antoinette months ago, I got some friends together for a Viva La France outdoor picnic and movie combo. I laid down the rules: bring french food, drink french wine and someone please make me some macaroons! Alas, the french pastry chef didn't have time and brought along a choc cake insead (delicious nonetheless), i made mini mushroom quiches ... so did 2 other people who had the same idea. We had asparagus rolls, french toast, prawn tapas (not french but too tasty to complain), 3 different kinds of quiches, profiteroles, fruit tarts, and some bubbly champagne. By sundown, the ducks made an appearance searching for some leftovers. I still enjoyed the movie the 2nd time around. Watching it under stars and snuggling under covers on a bean bag made it an even better visual experience. And if I have to travel to France to get me some frigg'in macaroons, then by george that's what I will have to do dammit!
